Hi! I’m Lila Pollack.

You are welcome to explore and read about my musical journey. If my teaching style resonates with you, it would be wonderful to connect.

I’m currently available for in person and online classes.

I am a New York City-based violinist and educator with a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music (M.M.) in Violin Performance from the Royal Academy of Music.

My violin teachers include Mikhail Kopelman, Charles Castleman, Hu Kun (protégé of Yehudi Menuhin), Naoko Tanaka (Juilliard) and Misha Keylin. Additionally, I hold an ABRSM licentiate from the Royal Academy of Music and Suzuki certification from the School for Strings, where I studied under Allen Lieb and the late Katherine Gerson. I also recently completed my studies at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education that focused on instructional leadership in professional education.

My students have been accepted to:

  • Juilliard’s MAP Program

  • Manhattan School of Music Prep Division

  • Mannes School of Music Pre-College

  • Eastman School of Music

  • Harvard University

  • Ithaca College School of Music

I have performed all over the world including venues in the USA, China, Wales, Holland, Czech Republic, and London. I have also performed as part of the Barge Music Chamber Music Concert Series and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Currently, I teach instrumental music to students in grades 4-8 at Avenues: The World School, where I was also a curriculum specialist, focusing on the development of the Lower Division program for all instruments. I am also the owner of my late grandfather’s music company, “Viola World Publications”.

My previous teaching experience includes serving as the Associate Artistic Director of the Noel Pointer Foundation and being a faculty member at The Diller-Quaile School of Music, USDAN Summer Camp for the Arts,  and New York State School of Orchestra Studies (Project 440 liaison).

I love to travel and to discover new food in each place. I just recently got back from a trip with a group of students to Costa Rica for an educational program for the second year in a row! My fiancé and I love to cook and spend time with our cat, Moose!
